Couples Therapy in Apple Valley, MN

Your relationship deserves more than just holding it together.

Our Gottman trained therapists help couples in Apple Valley and the South Metro rebuild trust, restore communication, and find their way back to each other.

You are not fighting about the dishes

The arguments that keep coming back; the distance that has grown between you; the feeling that you are roommates instead of partners ; these are not signs your relationship is broken. They are signs something needs to change. You have probably already tried talking it out on your own. You may have wondered if it is too late. It is not.

Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right. It is about learning how to hear each other again, repair what has been damaged, and build something stronger than what you had before. We have helped couples navigate conflict, rebuild after affairs, and rediscover what brought them together in the first place.

Our Approach

Evidence-Based, Relational, and Real

Our couples therapists are trained in the Gottman Method which one of the most extensively researched approaches to couples therapy available. We also integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and relational therapy principles to address the emotional patterns underneath the surface conflict.

Sessions are 45–60 minutes, in person at our Apple Valley office or via telehealth. We do not take sides. We create a space where both partners feel heard and where real progress becomes possible.

We offer couples therapy for partners in Apple Valley, Lakeville, Burnsville, Eagan, Rosemount, Mendota Heights, Prior Lake, Savage, and Farmington, MN.

In-person sessions available. Telehealth available statewide.

Your Questions, Answered

  • It depends on what you are working on. Some couples see meaningful progress in 8–12 sessions. More complex situations like affair recovery may take longer. We will work at your pace.

  • That is more common than you think. We are happy to answer questions before you book. A first session is simply a conversation and no commitment required.

  • Absolutely. Many couples come to therapy before things fall apart to build better communication skills, prepare for a major transition, or invest in the relationship proactively. Couples therapy works best when both partners are engaged, not just when one of you has hit a wall.

  • That is more common than you might think. A lot of couples therapy fails because it is too generic, too focused on communication scripts, or too slow to address the real patterns underneath. We work to understand what has not worked before and take a different approach. If you have tried before and felt like nothing changed, that is worth telling us upfront.

  • Yes. What is shared in couples therapy is confidential with limited exceptions required by law (such as safety concerns). We will walk you through the specifics in your first session so you understand the boundaries clearly.

  • Yes. Premarital counseling is one of the most effective investments a couple can make before marriage. We help couples identify their strengths, understand their conflict patterns, and build a foundation for long-term partnership. Available in-person at our Apple Valley office and via telehealth.
